What do you get when you take two highly active kids, mix in a demanding career, add too many school activities to count, and combine it all with complete dedication to those kids and their activities, and an unbelievable willingness to give countless extra hours to them? Why, you get Laura Street!
Laura Street is the mother of JHS senior Kahla and Rowe 6th grader Kason, and for the past three and a half years, she has made JHS her second home. In addition to being active members of and servants at Hillcrest Church, the Street children have been involved in school activities ranging from sports to UIL academics, and Laura has come alongside every step of the way.
Any time a softball is thrown or a cheerleading stunt performed, Laura is present, usually filming or taking photos to share. For every National Honor Society event that takes place, Laura is involved, donating time and often prizes as well. And she dives headlong into every task asked of her by the senior sponsors, beginning with decorating at the first pep rally of the class of 2014's freshman year, and culminating- but not ending- with a twelve hour day in the upstairs front hallway the Sunday before Homecoming. For anyone who missed the CandyLand hallway created by Laura and several of the other amazing senior moms, it was spectacular.
Laura's senior Kahla is preparing to head to Texas A&M in the fall, but will this slow Laura down in her service to the Jasper Bulldogs? Hardly! She'll probably be found working diligently and happily on all things crimson for several years to come. Congratulations, VIP Laura Street, and thanks for your dedication to JHS.
