2017-2018 Cheer Try-outs

Student of the Week

Jasper High School is proud to have two students to honor this week as student of the week. The first is senior Hannah Walker. Hannah is the varsity head cheerleader at Jasper High School. She is also a member of the National Honor Society, works in PELE, and is very involved in the youth program at Hillcrest Baptist Church. Mr. Hicks says, “Hannah has challenged herself academically for all four years of her high school career. Along with taking advanced level courses, Hannah has taken dual credit classes for the past two years. She is consistently an A Honor Roll student. In my Pre-AP Pre-Calculus class, she usually has one of the highest grades. Most importantly, Hannah is polite, pleasant, and an all-around good person. She is willing to step in and lend a hand when she sees a problem. She is patient and loving with the children she works with in PELE. I have no doubt that whatever path Hannah takes in the future, it will be after much prayer and thought. I also know she will meet and surpass all the goals she sets.” Hannah is the daughter of George Walker.

The second student of the week is senior Macy Kendrick. Macy is a member of the National Honor Society, president of the student council, a sports medicine trainer, and a member of Bulldogs for Christ. She plays midfield for the Jasper High School soccer team and also runs cross country. Mr. Hicks says, “Macy is an all-around great young lady. She is not only very involved in school, she also volunteers at Harvest Church and gives skating lessons at the skating rink. Macy makes sure she is prepared academically. She has taken a rigorous course load to ensure she will be prepared for her college career, including taking a full load of dual credit classes through Angelina College. One thing that stands out with Macy is her can-do attitude. She is always polite, quick with a smile, and a hello. Macy is the kind of student every teacher wants in their room. I believe Macy will find success at whatever she decides to take on in life. She knows what it takes to get the job done and has the grit to do it.” Macy is the daughter of Michelle and Michael Kendrick.
